We are proud to announce that we are part of the more than 130 Uruguayan companies that have joined the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a joint initiative of the United Nations Global Compact and UN Women.
The WEPs aim to guide companies in promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women in the workplace, the marketplace, and the community. The WEPs are grounded in international labor standards, human rights, and the recognition of the fundamental role that businesses play in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
At Grupo RUA, we commit to taking concrete actions to contribute to building gender equality in the workplace, the marketplace, and the community. These 7 principles encompass:
- Promoting gender equality at the highest levels of leadership.
- Treating all men and women fairly at work, respecting and upholding human rights and non-discrimination.
- Ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all workers.
- Promoting education, training, skill development, and professional growth for women.
- Implementing enterprise development, supply chain, and marketing practices that empower women.
- Advancing equality through community and awareness initiatives.
- Measuring and publicly reporting on progress toward gender equality.
From our inception, we have understood that organizations have a significant responsibility to promote spaces where women and men can develop their potential equally.
By committing to the WEPs, we are taking a much more proactive stance in addressing a social issue that affects women in various aspects of their lives. We are contributing from the workplace to building a fairer society for all.
This commitment finds us focusing our efforts on developing an internal gender equality strategy that will involve the participation of all areas of our company as a whole.
At RUA, we encourage more and more companies to join this commitment and work on concrete actions to promote gender equality in the workplace and in various spheres of life.
