The company made its debut in Paraguay during the height of the pandemic over three years ago, offering the market a wide portfolio aimed at providing practical and comprehensive solutions to customers’ diverse needs.

Diego Sayanes (CEO) and Rubén Barrios (country manager), representatives of the Paraguayan subsidiary of the company, highlight that the company is in a phase of full expansion, development, and consolidation in the Paraguayan market. RUA Assistance is a global firm that provides assistance in various areas, including health, home, travel, marketing, technology, security, and more.

“As a group, we are in the process of strengthening our presence in the countries where we operate, consolidating the operations we have developed at the headquarters in Uruguay, where we are leaders, and also in the rest of the subsidiaries. We are in the midst of a strong internationalization process for the company and the group with its other companies. Continuing on a path we started a few years ago, we are undergoing a very strong technological transformation not only in one of the services we provide but throughout the company itself. This has allowed us to offer new, more digital solutions to our customers,” emphasized Sayanes.

Do you believe these innovations address current demand, and how would you describe what you perceive as demand? The market is changing a lot, and in this change, customers are requesting new solutions for their day-to-day lives, to meet more sophisticated needs. As an assistance company, we are trying to find answers to these types of requests for our customers and our customers’ customers. These are the differentiators the company is eagerly seeking.

How have you seen your consolidation in the Paraguayan market over the years, and what are your expectations? It has been very gratifying. Since we set up in Paraguay in the midst of the pandemic, the company has grown significantly. We have hired a lot of personnel, expanded our network of providers, developed many business units beyond the core roadside assistance product, and offered increasingly sophisticated home services, special security coverage, and even medical and telemedicine services. All of this has allowed us to forge important relationships with major corporate clients such as insurers, banks, and financial institutions, to whom we are adding significant value in terms of services and creating new revenue streams for them. That’s why we are very pleased and have high expectations for progress in Paraguay.

How does all of this position you competitively with other companies in the sector? RUA Assistance is a company that allows customers to find solutions for different situations that do not necessarily have to be related to assistance services. We become a fantastic partner where our corporate clients can find an ally to provide services, cover claims in Paraguay and abroad, offer digital marketing solutions, find businesses for recreation, discounts at stores, and more.

A significant differentiator is everything related to technology, in which our corporate clients can invest without the need for the direct investment and time required to develop sophisticated technological solutions. By partnering with RUA, they can find digital communication channels that can offer solutions to their customers overnight without making direct investments, only by partnering with us.

New projects the company is undertaking in Paraguay Rubén Barrios: I believe that the assistance market in Paraguay will explode in a short time, guided by RUA’s differential, which is technology. Our market goes hand in hand with the insurance industry, where I previously worked. Basic assistance services were known, and through RUA’s arrival, the Paraguayan market will be able to expand its horizons in terms of assistance and everything that RUA can offer to different customers we are already working with and will work with.

Sayanes: We now plan to advance the internationalization of our company. This year, we are opening our subsidiaries in Spain and Colombia in the first half. In the second half, we will be working on the Mexican, Bolivian, and Peruvian markets.

In Paraguay, we have incorporated other group companies, such as Onírica, our digital marketing company that is already working with some corporate clients in Paraguay. Another group company, MashKady, offers discounts and benefits for movies, theater, clothing purchases, and dining in a very simple way, providing added value to our corporate clients by allowing them to offer these benefits to their customers.

What are the main challenges for the company in 2023? Sayanes: Due to the growth we have experienced in recent years, our current location no longer has space for further expansion. Therefore, starting April 1st, we will be moving to Tower 3 of the Sky Park building. We are very excited, as most of our employees are currently working remotely, and we are in the midst of the moving and transfer process to that tower. We want to continue improving our relationships with our established clients in Paraguay and build new relationships with new clients. We are attentive to market needs, and Paraguay is a very challenging market that is constantly improving, evolving, and developing.

Barrios: One of our main challenges in 2023 is to continue building strong relationships with all the clients who have trusted us from the beginning. We want to reach more people because, by providing assistance, it touches on philanthropy, giving people a good time. That’s what we want to achieve, that more and more people can access better assistance through RUA.

What is the company’s work culture, and what sets it apart in that regard? Sayanes: We are a company that strives to evolve, grow, develop, and constantly innovate in its value proposition, while always taking great care of the human capital that makes up the company. We work very hard internally with what we call in our company “ambassadors,” in all the subsidiaries, to promote the cultures and values of RUA. We give our maximum effort in a good working environment.

Barrios: RUA has a business vision deeply rooted in values, which are not just displayed on a wall or written words on paper but are truly lived and perceived in everyday life and through activations that help maintain that differentiating culture when it comes to giving one’s best at work within an environment that encourages it. There are numerous factors that make a person feel very satisfied working at RUA and having all the tools to give their best for the achievement of set objectives.
